When I started blogging, I didn’t know much about traffic. I thought that by writing quality content I would receive hundreds of visits to my blog. It didn’t work.
I read in many blogs that “content is king” and “length is strength” and that writing amazing unique long posts will attract new visitors. But I was wondering, visitors from where? Nobody knew about my blog.
I blogged for quite a few months trying to don’t think much about traffic. I followed many strategies from other bloggers but I just didn’t get results, my traffic was stuck in 20 page views per day.
One day, I stumbled upon an article about how Pinterest can bring traffic to your blog. Pinterest was something that I did never try before. I decided to give it a shot!
And these are the results I got! In less than a month!
The truth is that part of my success is thanks to Tailwind, which is a tool that helped me with my Pinterest strategy. I signed up for the trial that gives 100 free pins and in a few days, I started getting more and more traffic.

It took me a week to set up my Pinterest account. What I did during my first week is listed below.
Added a profile picture and profile description
The first thing I did was adding a profile picture and writing my profile description.
As you can see in the image below, I also added a link to my blog (so people visiting my profile can pay a visit)
In the description, I introduced some keywords related to my blog. This helped my profile to appear in more Pinterest search results.
Joined Group Boards
Joining and contributing to group boards that already have followers was another of the things I did during this first week.
When you contribute to group boards you have access to all the followers of the board. This attracted a lot of new visitors to my site.
I also created my own group board (I’ve heard that is good to have your own group board).
Created Vertical Good-Looking Pins
One of the points that helped me succeed in Pinterest is when I started creating vertical good-looking pins. Let me explain. Pinterest is a visual social network and it’s nothing compared to Facebook or Twitter.
Your Pin is the only way of attracting people to your site. If you have a crappy bad looking Pin, nobody will click it.
In the image below you can see the differences between what you should and should not aim for.
Pinned Regularly
During my first week using Pinterest, I became very active. I was pinning during the morning, afternoon and evening.
Pinterest loves active pinners who share their pins and promote pins from others. So that’s what I did.
The more I pinned, the more visits I was getting.
Note: being active is not the same as being spammy. Follow group boards rules and avoid pinning too much. Duplicate pins are fine if you wait for a couple of weeks.
This strategy worked but it was very tiring. Being active 24/7 is nearly impossible, which brings me to the next point…
Scheduled my Pins
After a few days of joining Pinterest, I was a contributor to more than 20 group boards. I found difficult to manually pin/repin on them every day.
It was when I started using Tailwind to schedule my pins. Tailwind is the reason why my traffic dramatically increased.
I pinned around 30-35 pins per day over my top 20 boards and I only spent 30 minutes per week. This brought me 250 daily visitors within a month.
If you want to join Tailwind, you can try it for free (100 free pins). You can use my link and you will get a $15 discount (one month for free) if after your trial you decide to go for the full version.

Pinned at the right time
When I first started with Pinterest, I was pinning during the morning, after lunch and before going to sleep. I was making a huge effort to make this happen.
What I didn’t know was that there is a best time for pinning. This time is not specific for everybody, it depends on when your followers are online.
Tailwind has a Smart Schedule tool that helps you post at the best times when your audience is actually looking.
Since I started using it, I stopped worrying about when to pin. I let Tailwind do it for me š
I’m not 100% sure, but I believe that one of the reasons why my traffic increased that much was thanks to the Smart Schedule.
Used Tribes
Tribes is the next Big Thing for Pinterest traffic. Sharing in group boards is great but sharing in Tribes is even better.
But, wait, why is it better? Tribes lets you join trusted people in your niche to share relevant content and grow your reach.
In other words, every time you share a pin in any of your Tribes, all the members can share/repin your pin in their pinning schedule. The common rule is to share at least 1 pin for each time you pin. So, for each pin you add, you’ll receive the same amount of repins!
Here is a screenshot of my stats from Tribes.
It is currently free for anyone to use, even if you are not using Tailwind already! You really should give it a try.
You can also join my tribe Make Money Blogging and start sharing. But don’t forget, follow the rules!
Rinse and Repeat
Now you know how I went from 0 to 250 daily page views in just 1 month.
What I did after, was to repeat the process month after month. I joined more group boards and Tribes and created more long good-looking pins.
Then I left Tailwind in charge of the hard work.
I found out that once I got Tailwind running, repeating the process is very easy. I only spend 30 minutes a week to schedule my pins across all the boards.
If you want to join Tailwind, you can try it for free (100 free pins). You can use my link and you will get a $15 discount (one month for free) if after your trial you decide to go for the full version.
