why-passive-income-can-change-your-lifeNowadays, with this busy world, it’s hard to find time to do all those activities we like to do. We spend an average of 8-10 hours/day either working, studying or just to get money for living.

How would you feel if I tell you that there is a way of changing this? A way in which you are the one deciding the time you want to spend working every day. Welcome to the Passive Income life.
But before continue….

WHAT IS PASSIVE INCOME?

Passive income is by definition “an income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it. It is closely related to the concept of “unearned income”. The American Internal Revenue Service categorises income into three broad types, active income, passive income, and portfolio income”.

As you can see in the definition above, Passive Income is the second type of income categorised by the American Internal Revenue Service. However, I must disagree with the part saying that passive income needs “little effort”. I would modify it saying that is a kind of incoming that needs little effort once you have your business running. The truth is that at the beginning (as everything in life) costs effort. But the question is… does all that initial effort worth? Oh yes, my friend, it does and a lot. And I will show you why if you continue reading.

It is a nice feeling when you wake up in the morning and you check that you have more money in your bank account than the day before. And what did you do? Sleeping. Yes, sleeping, because a passive income business is like that.

The theory behind Passive Income is easy. You work on a project (let’s say for example an online business, your blog) and you need to put work on that for the first few months. After that time and after applying a marketing strategy you will have some earnings that depending on certain circumstances will be more or less stable. The more work and effort you put on it the more earnings you will have as any work in the earth. But the good thing is here: if all of a sudden you stop working for one day, for one week or for a month you will be still earning money. This is the concept of Passive Income.

If you are thinking about starting your own blog, I created a tutorial-guide that will help you start your own blog for cheap, You need very little investment, starting at only $3.95 per month (this deal is only through my link) for blog hosting. Additionally, you will get a free blog domain (valued at $12-15) through my Bluehost link, only if your purchase is for at least 12 months of blog hosting. My recommendation is for you to be self-hosted. This is important if you want to monetize your blog because your website will look more professional.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

One year ago I didn’t have any idea about what is Passive Income. I will put you in context:

I was a PhD student in the United Kingdom, I was during my first year (out of three). The day of my 27th birthday I decided to create a website about an RNG video game I quite liked. Why did I do that? Because I was looking for guides about it and I couldn’t find them anywhere. Since my PhD was related to statistics I decided to gather data from the game and create my own guides so not only me but more people can have them online. During 9 months I was very committed to my website and without realising I was learning quite a lot about website design.

From the second month, the traffic of the website started growing quite fast until the point that the broadband acquired with my hosting provided back then wasn’t enough for all the upcoming traffic. I needed an upgrade, otherwise, the site would be down.

It was then when I started thinking that I needed to find any kind of incoming to finance the website and the hosting upgrade. And my online research started. I learn about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and monetizing mechanisms like Google Adsense, ClickBank and Affiliate marketing. Google Adsense sounded very promising with very little effort and I tried it. I submitted my application and guess what, it was accepted!

The first day I earned $0.48, I still remember that feeling! Amazing! But, wait, is that real money? It was looking too good to be real. It took some time until I realised it was very real with my first Adsense payment. This little income motivated me even more to create new content and to redesign the website with a better appearance. I spent countless hours until I found the best design, the definitive one.

passive income can change your lifeAfter a month I got around $12.00 from Adsense, not too bad. It was enough to pay my hosting upgrade, so the target was achieved. But… that wasn’t enough, the world of internet marketing opened my eyes, and after reading some amazing content from Smart Passive Income (with Pat Flynn) I realised that it was possible to dream and fight for a better future, a future in which it can be possible to earn real passive income.

From April 2015, I was determined to work as hard as I could to make this dream possible and the marathon started. After work I arrived home at around 5:30 pm and I spent around 4-5 hours/day in creating new content for the website and for learning new strategies about passive income.

Today and after 10 months, I am proud to say that I am some steps ahead on the path and that I learned quite a lot, however, there are many many things still new for me. If you want to know what are my real earnings monthly visit the Monthly Income Reports section.

Now I make more than $1,000 per month only from Passive Income and this is only the beginning. So if you want to start your own adventure as well, I’ve created a detailed guide on how to start your own blog for cheap!

    • Hey, thank you for your comment!

On my Site Niche 1 (which is where the main income is coming from) I only spend 30 minutes per month, just to check everything is running well and are no downtime with the server. I don’t create any more content.

The reason is because Niche Site 1 has all the content I was aiming for, it has the desired Google Ranking (page 1) and there is no need to create new content. This is working on autopilot.

For this blog, I spend around 1-2 hours a day on average. There are days I don’t work anything on this blog and other which I might spend 3-4 hours but as I said before, no more than 2 hours/day on average.

I work full time in a company so I don’t have all the time I would like to work on my websites, that’s why I try to manage my time as best as possible =)

      Cheers!

  1. Hi, nice article. I am truly inspired by you. We share the same story. I also want to start a new blog but my English is not that good. What should I do? Please help me out.

    • When I started my English wasn’t very good either and now it’s still not good enough. However, blogging has helped me improving my English by learning more vocabulary and correcting grammar mistakes.
If you are hesitating, you should give it a try.
Blogging is not only for native speakers, I’m native Spanish and here I am, running my own blog!
